Mindful Adventures!

Hi my name is Grant.  I travel around the world exploring mindfulness.  Right now I'm meditating in Myanmar for one month in a monastery.  After that I will be surfing in Sri Lanka.  Feel free to say hello!

Letting Go...

Letting Go...

I sat in my dark classroom this morning, shades drawn, before my students arrived.  I wanted to take in all of the silence of the early morning hour, before the rush of footsteps fills the halls.  I realized that with two days left at a school I will never return to, it's time to let go.  First of the energy of the room itself.  The frantic, stressful and often conflict ridden environment that  a math classroom can turn into for a group of 7th graders.  I let go of it all.  The people, the stress, the energy of the room.  The good and the bad.  Then I let go of the energy of this hallway.  The 6h graders in their growth spurts.  The stress of other teachers with yelling voices and crossed arms.  The rules and structure that "hold this place together".  I let go of it all.  Then I let go of the energy of the whole school.  Conflicts I had with parents or co workers.  Things unattended to.  Things I poured my heart and soul into.  Finally, I logged onto my computer and I closed down Outlook.  I will answer no more emails from this address.  It's time to let go of it all.  It's time to cleanse my energy. To crawl out of this stream, dry myself off and sit in the sun for a while  before leaping into the next river of life and swimming once again.  I am grateful for the opportunities I have in life.  I am grateful for the silence.  I am grateful for letting go....
